Samson & Ginger - Are Looking For Their Forever Home!

Ginger was born August. 16, 2019. She doesn't care for water activities. She loves chow time she has a very big appetite. Loves walks and runs and she is good both on and off leash. She doesn't like to stay outside when it’s evening time she seems to get cold a little easier. She will follow you around and lays down on command. When she needs to go out, she goes to the door. She is housebroken. She likes a calm environment. She’s a very simple dog very quiet. She is a good watchdog!

Samson was born August. 16, 2019. He is a very calm and loving dog. He loves outdoor activities like frizbee and playing ball. Samson loves chow time and is very obedient as he doesn't like disappointing his owner. He responds to commands and is housebroken. You have to show him where he is able to use the bathroom and let him know that is his place to go. He will also bark to get your attention if he needs to go outside to do his business.  He is not used to staying outside for long periods of time. He is crate trained and prefers to sleep in his crate. He is a very good boy that needs someone to spend time with.

Ginger is spayed while Samson has not been neutered. They are not microchipped but they are current on their vaccinations.  Samson's neuter will be a priority once we can get them into a permanent home or foster home.  They are crate trained and house broken.

Ginger and Samson are trained to sleep in a crate. If either needs to go out during the night they will bark.  They are also crated during the day while the current owners are at work.

Samson has the white flash on muzzle and Ginger is mocha with black diamond mask with white flash on her chin.

If you are interested in helping or learning more about Samson and Ginger, please contact us by email or Facebook private message..

We Could Really Use Your Help Right Now!

Ada has been with us since May of 2022.  During her time with us we have been treating her for immune-mediated thrombocytopenia or ITP.  We initially discovered Ada's ITP condition during a pre-op blood draw prior to a scheduled cruciate ligament surgery.  At that point Ada would have been at significant risk of bleeding to death, and as a result the surgery was postponed. This is something that affects the platelet count and can be caused by several tick-borne diseases such as  ehrlichia, rocky mountain spotted fever, or babesia, bartonella and mycoplasma.  This has been a long and difficult journey for Ada, but she is now in remission and is ready for her much needed ACL surgery.  Since so much time as passed, Ada's ACL is now much worse.

In addition to much needed donations, we are asking our Rescue Community to help is find two items needed for Ada's mobility before and after surgery.

We are looking for a "Help Em Up Harness".  She weighs 65 lbs and would require a medium harness.

We are also looking for a ramp which will provide a safer way for Ada to get into and out of the foster's vehicle.

Lobo's Story...

This is 9 week old Lobo. He is one of three siblings that were surrendered to our organization.  Unfortunately, his siblings died before we could get to them. All three had been suffering from Parvovirus which is most often a death sentence for a puppy.  We would like to thank Liam who volunteered through our Facebook Page to take Lobo to Roadrunner Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center.

It is so important to get your puppies vaccinated against Parvo. They are vulnerable to the disease until they have received all three shots in their vaccination series.  Owners need to take extra precaution during this time to prevent their puppies from contracting the virus. Puppies should be vaccinated against Parvo at approximately 6, 8, and 12 weeks of age. Puppies should receive a dose of canine parvovirus vaccine between 14 and 16 weeks of age, regardless of how many doses they received earlier, to develop adequate protection.

Lobo was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday 4/30 and was discharged on Saturday 5/4. Roadrunner did an amazing job in helping Lobo to recover.  During this time Lobo received very aggressive Parvo treatment involving IV maintenance, blood plasma transfusions, a nasogastric feeding tube and numerous medications to fight his nausea and diarrhea.  Our discounted rescue invoice came to $4,366.79.  We can only save dogs like Lobo with your generous donations.  Please help us fund Lobo's care by donating today thru PayPal.

Sophie - Is Looking For Her Fur-Ever Home!

Sophie is a flashy fawn, spayed female, approximately seven years old who loves to go for walks and be with her human.  She is microchipped, crate trained and house trained.  Sophie weighs approximately 50 lbs and is current on vaccinations through Academy Pet Hospital.  Sophie is described as friendly, protective, playful, smart, affectionate, obedient and calm. She is in a house with 3 other dogs and does not get along with 2 of those dogs but loves to play with the third dog.  Sophie sleeps in her crate at night and loves her safe space.  Sophie is a sweetheart that loves to cuddle with her human.  She walks well on a leash and knows a few commands.  Sophie is looking for a human companion to love for the rest of her life.  Sophie loves walks & loves people! Get ready to snuggle & get plenty of boxer love.

Please contact Susan at Exsel10@outlook.com or Boxer Rescue at info@abqboxer911.org

Zina - Is Looking For Her New Home!

Our baby girl Zina needs a loving home. Unfortunately she developed littermate syndrome and cannot be kept with her sister anymore. She has been at another home but is not getting along with the other dogs. She would need to be an only pet unless you are willing to take the time to work with her and the other pets.

She is house trained, crate trained, and follows some commands such as “no, bed, and sit”. She is 3yrs old and still very playful. Her favorite things are her blankets. She is not spayed.  She loves to cuddle.

If you would like to learn more please contact Aspen or Boxer Rescue.

We are asking for your support and prayers!

This is Oscar. He is about 6 months old and is currently hospitalized at the Roadrunner Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital in Algodones.  As you can see from his pictures that his condition is critical. We rescued Oscar through a concerned animal lover who found him on the roadside; weak, emaciated, dehydrated and vomiting. He was admitted today (3/23) with a fever and has been diagnosed with parvovirus. Most parvo deaths occur within 48 to 72 hours following the onset of clinical signs. His survival will be determined in the the next 72 hours at the Roadrunner Hospital, the cost of which could be upwards of $5,000.00. If you’d like to help, please press the donate button below.

We do know that Oscar is a fighter and still has so much love in his heart for his caregivers!

Charley - Has Been Adopted!

Charley is spayed and up to date on shots. Charley came into the rescue with her sister Harley.  Charley is about 2 years old and has been well taken care of.  But, through no fault of her own has become a victim of the Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak fire. Charley's previous owners told us that they just want to see her go to a loving home.  They ask that whoever adopts Charley loves and cherishes her as much as they have.  Charley is the leader.  Harley is just along for the ride....she follows her sister wherever she goes.  Harley is more outgoing and friendly.  Charley is the cautious sister,  but if Harley is happy and comfortable, Charley is quick to join in. Charley is looking for her loving forever family. Please email us if you are interested in adopting Charley.  As their new foster Dad, I can tell you that these sisters are a joy to have around the house! Charley is more interested in the human connection while Harley is more interested in playing with the other pups in the house.

Tarj'et - Is Currently Available For Adoption or Foster!

We have been contacted by DAGSHIP (Deming Animal Guardians Sunshine Haven Intake Project) Rescue in Deming, NM.  They have  reached out to us to see if we could help with a 2 year old boxer named Tarj'et.  A family had rescued him from a very bad home situation and took him in.  While the family had hoped they would be able to integrate Tarj'et into their family, they have been having issues with their older dog not accepting Tarj'et. In fact their other dog turned on him so they would like him to go to a safe home. Tarj'et is a really sweet boy,  timid at first but it took less than a minute for the Director of DAGSHIP to pet him and he was as sweet as can be. He walks well on leash, is house trained, works well with other dogs, and loves all people and kids, he does attach to women but is good with males also. He is already neutered and up-to-date on his shots and DAGSHIP will also be getting him a microchip.

Duke - Is Currently Available for Adoption or Foster!

Meet Duke, he is a 5 year old Boxer that weighs in at approximately 60 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.  Duke is described by his current owner as friendly, quiet, nervous, obedient, affectionate and protective.  Duke is also described as loving. tolerant and protective when people enter the homeHis current family feels that he will do best in a single dog home, however, with patience and time he did successfully acclimate to the other family members pets. Duke is a full breed boxer who has a very typical boxer personality. He is extremely patient and tolerant with children and loves walks and runs. He is fully house trained, crate trained and very obedient. The current owners have moved from a house to an apartment which limits their capability to provide adequate space to play.  If you'd like to know more, please email us.   If you hover over the picture and click the magnifying glass it will start a slide show for you.

Maddie #2 - Is Currently Available for Adoption or Foster!

Maddie is a young female surrendered to the rescue. She is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on her shots. She loves other dogs and warms up to her humans after some time. We are looking for a foster for her or permanent home asap. She definitely needs a good human pack leader to build her confidence on walks and with more human friends.   If you'd like to know more, please email us.

Athena - Is Currently Available for Adoption or Foster!

Athena is a 4 year old energetic female that loves to run and play. Athena is currently living in Las Cruces, NM with her owner.  She enjoys playing with her treats before eating them. Athena is loving and very caring and loves children. Her current owner describes her as friendly, protective, noisy, active, playful and a little nervous at times. She is presently left outside 100% of the time, so she is not crate trained or house broken.  Her current owner states that she does have issues with other pets in the home and she is an escape artist and likes to dig. Athena will need someone to help her transition to being indoors. She is currently a backyard escape artist but that should change with proper training and attention.  If you are interested in fostering Athena or even opening up your home permanently,  please contact us via email.

Lulu - Is Currently Available for Adoption or Foster!

This is Lulu, a 3- to 4-month-old puppy (not fixed yet). She was found out on the streets, rescued, and brought into a dog loving home just a couple of days ago. She is still learning how to be in a house but catches on quickly. She is a ball of energy one moment and cuddled up passed out the next. She will follow you anywhere and is curious about everything! She loves toys and will play by herself if necessary. She just needs some guidance is very sweet and smart and wants to cuddle up as much as possible. She is a little food aggressive but is starting to learn how to interact with the other dogs around food. We need to find a place for her very soon since the people who have her now are moving to Arizona in a couple of days. If anyone is interested in fostering her or even opening up a permanent home, please contact us via email.

Scrim - Is Currently Available for Adoption or Foster!

Scrim is a very friendly dog.   He is about a year old, is not fixed and loves meeting new people. He is also full of energy (but that's a given), He does well with other females and prefers them his size or a little smaller. He definitely needs an area where he can run - a lot!    We are looking for a foster or permanent home.    He will get neutered while in our care. If you are interested, please contact us by  email .  Once we find him a home we can schedule his neuter and vaccinations.

Charlie - Is Currently Available for Adoption!

This is Charlie, a 70 pound, 3-year-old boxer. He is kennel trained and sleeps in it at night without any issues. He is potty trained too! Although he does know some basic commands, he is a typical boxer – stubborn and sometimes not consistent.  He does like to chew on things and can help you rearrange some items in your home (shoes, cardboard, brooms).  He does grab food off tables and likes to escape through gates that are not secured completely.  He likes to ride in the car and, of course, has a naughty side as all boxers do. He will need someone to be patient with him as any strong pack leader and help him adjust to a new place. He is currently living a smaller dog but doesn’t always introduce well with other dogs – again, it is most likely that he needs someone who can do the introductions correctly. It would be best if he were an only dog.  He is neutered and up to date on his shots.  If you're interested in fostering or adopting Charlie please send us an email.

Ada - Is Currently Available for Adoption!

Ada as described by her foster Mom (Thank you Gina for fostering Ada!):

House trained, crate trained walks on leash without pulling, comes when called, is not food aggressive. Ada mingles well with the dogs she has met, both males and female.  Ada has not been introduced to cats at her foster home.  She notices bunnies in her yard but not attentive enough to catching any. Ada has not attempted to jump fences or gates at her foster home. Ada is excited with new people, but does not jump up on people and settles quickly.  She has a formidable bark when someone comes to the door, but ceases when I tell her "thank you" and "that is enough".  She does not charge out of the door.  ADA IS NOT JUST ANY DOG - she plays soccer! She can dribble the ball down the grass, bump it up with her head, sometimes lets it roll down her back, and allows me to have a turn.  It is time to put up a goal!  Ada needs this type of physical and mental interaction with her family. Ada is intelligent and wants to please.  This makes her easily trainable, as she learns by watching. Ada was timid when she arrived, she is confident now, and learns best from a quiet voice. I like to take Ada with me on errands as she is such a joy to be with. She is easy to love!

Ada will need medication for her left rear leg for joint comfort.   If you're interested in adopting Ada please send us an email

Tyson#2 - Is Currently Available for Adoption!

This is a new/different Tyson (very popular Boxer name).  Tyson is around 3 kids everyday. The oldest is 9 with twin girls that are 5. He's great with the kids. The kids are constantly laying on Tyson. They often put head bands on him. He is all about letting them play. Tyson is house broken and sleeps in a crate at night. He likes to chill on the couch, but loves to play fetch and run around the backyard. He knows how to sit and shake hands with a snap of a finger.  He still needs to be neutered and has been scheduled for March 17th. He should be available around the 26th of March.  If your interested in Tyson and have filled out an application please send us an email.

Lola - Is Currently Available

Lola is a spayed female brindle Boxer around 4 years old and weighs about 55 pounds. She is currently being cared for by a family who recently lost a loved one that was her previous owner. Unfortunately, Lola does not get along with the current family dog and can no longer be cared for in her present situation. Lola is crate trained and house broken. She gets a little nervous when she meets new people, but is very drawn to kids and women. She's a little hesitant with men and may need some work in that area. She is very lovable, loves attention and loves to tell you about it. She prefers to have her family around and is not thrilled when everyone is gone. Please send us an inquiry if you're interested in meeting Lola.

Tyson - Is Currently Available for Adoption!

This is Tyson. He is a young male that was found wondering the streets. He is currently living with the family that found him, but their other dogs do not like him. He is not neutered yet and needs to get caught up on his shots. We are looking for a foster or permanent home. He should be introduced to other dogs slowly since it is not known if the other dogs just don't like him or if he is not good with other dogs. However, he is fine with their cat. He loves to invade your space and wants to cuddle as much as possible. He is good with kids and seems to like every person he meets.

If you're interested in fostering or adopting Tyson please send us an email.  Yes we used a valentines filter.

Gabby - Is Currently Available for Adoption!

Young white female boxer. Spayed 1/22.  Vaccines are current. Thank you Gina for fostering Gabby and for the biography and evaluation.

House trained.  Walks on a loose leash, but would rather play if human is in the mood to play, with leash.  Knows “not yours”, when her human is eating on the couch. “Enough”, when she starts to get too feisty when wrestling with human. “Stay”.  She has no issue with sharing and allows her foster to take chew toy or bone out of her mouth. Gabby has a great, reliable recall.  She is mannerly, and doesn’t try to get through a door in front of her human.  She will ride calmly in car, but needs help getting in my SUV.   Other motorists comment on her charm when riding in the car.  Gabby is still exuberant about meeting new people, but settles quickly. We have not met a person that she didn’t love and cuddle when introduced.  Gabby does not seem to have a prey drive when it comes to bunnies and squirrels in her yard. She has not been introduced to cats.  Gabby is playful and entertaining. I think she would like a male play companion.  She jumps, spins, throws a stick in the air, and creates her own agility course in the back yard.  Gabby limits use of her left back leg or foot when she walks.  She has been examined by our vet, and her hips and cruciate ligaments seem healthy.  She uses that leg when she jumps and spins, and when she is at a dead run, loops around the garden, turns through the trees, and headed back to her foster after the last cold night potty break, ears flapping like Sally Field’s as the Flying Nun.

She was very thin, and ambulating in a somewhat army crawl when rescued from Rio Rancho Animal Control (RRAC). She was picked up as a stray, and surviving on the street, she then went to the cold concrete of RRAC.  She is now muscular and that leg may just need more time, her health has improved remarkably in just 5 weeks.

Gabby listens, is very smart and learns quickly with a kind voice.  She really is the funniest, sweetest dog that I have had in my home.

If you're interested in adopting Gabby please send us an email.

Louie - Is Currently Available!

This is Louie, a very loving male boxer who is a little more than one year old.  He gets along fine with female dogs but not male dogs. He plays with his owner's 5 year old son all the time but tends to jump up a lot. He eats by himself but loves to play with the female Lab that his owner has. He does listen to basic commands like sit and shake, kennel trained but loves to be free in the yard.  When bringing him inside he will go into his kennel when told to go to bed. He is a very protective dog, has some food aggression and is very territorial when other male dogs are around.  He is not neutered yet and he did have all of his puppy shots.  However, he was initially rescued from a family that could not keep him in their apartment. Owner recommendations are no small kids, older kids are better; and being the only dog would be ideal. If you're interested in adopting Louie please send us an email.

Beau - Is Currently Available!

Beau is a neutered male Boxer around 2 years old and weighs about 65 pounds.  He is currently being cared for by a family in the south valley near where he was found by another local rescue.  He has been in foster care for about 6 months and is current on all of his vaccinations. Beau has been living with a couple of female chihuahuas and loves their company.  Beau is crate trained, house broken and would prefer his 4 legged roommates to be female.  He loves meeting new people and will offer his paw as soon as you're within reach. He is very lovable and very much loves the attention.  If you're interested in adopting Beau please send us an email.

Buster - Is currently on a test drive!

Buster is approximately 2 years old. He is a big boy weighing in at around 70 pounds. If you've been following our available boxers page, you would have noticed that Buster had been adopted. Unfortunately, the adoption didn't work out and he is once again available. He will make a great companion for empty nesters or families with teen children. He is incredibly obedient and will bond to his adoptive family very quickly. We are recommending that he be the only dog in the household. He is excellent on leash and will make someone a great lifelong companion. As you can see from his pictures below, he can be quite the couch potato.

Quigley - Needs an Emergency Foster! - Please Help!

We don't have much information about Quigley.  He was found in the south valley and is currently being cared for by the family that found him. He looks pretty battered right now, but we would like to get him into a home where we can provide him with the medical attention he requires through one of our providers.  He is described as fun, playful, excited and a sweet boxer.  He is good with other dogs and also with kids.

If you would like to provide a temporary or permanent home for Quigley, please email us right away.

Please send us an inquiry if you're interested in meeting Lola.

Mickey - Located in Las Cruces *Courtesy Post*

Mickey is around 3 years old and had only been kept outside in a kennel her entire life with really no attention or love. Mickey is located in Las Cruces, NM.  Her owners no longer wanted her and were going to put her down until my family stepped in and brought her into our home. She is great with our 3 dogs but somewhat skiddesh with our 3 energetic grandsons and for that reason we're unable to keep her. She loves rides in the car, attention, fetching the ball and likes the water. A home with lots of love and no children, no cats would be great for her. Serious inquiries only.

email:  michelle.orona@yahoo.com

Jovi - In Nearby Edgewood *Re-Home*

Jovi is a 9 year old spayed fawn female weighing approximately 55 lbs. Her vaccinations are current and her medical records are with Canyon Crossroads.  The current owners are moving with very limited space for a Boxer.  Jovi is described as friendly, playful, nervous, smart, and active.

Jovi is crate trained and has no issues with other dogs. Cats are not recommended. Somewhat anxious if left alone. Current owner says only dog may be best.  She just wants to be with someone all day. Won’t approach strangers outside alone. On leash she will. She walks on leash but can pull. She doesn’t like strangers outside (ie: propane filling she could panic and jump fence). Otherwise doesn’t jump fence to escape. Current owners fence is 4-5 feet.  If you are interested please contact Ian the current owner.  Email: Isdunbar@icloud.com

Help us find Rocky!

Rocky managed to escape from his home near Spain/Montgomery and Juan Tabo.  Picture will be posted soon.  He is a 70 lb. mahogany fawn with graying snout.  Natural ears and docked tail. Unfortunately, he got out without his collar.   If you live in the area please be on the lookout for Rocky.

His owner is driving around  now trying to find him.

This is Jack, a reverse brindle Boxer. He is only seven months old and has his whole Boxer wriggling life in front of him. Unfortunately, this cutie sustained some serious injuries after falling from a second story balcony here in Albuquerque. Both his pelvis and jaw are broken, the jaw in two places, and both will require extensive specialty surgeries. Dr. Bannon with Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery has agreed to perform the jaw surgery pro bono (THANK YOU!). However, we will also need the expertise of Dr. Schwartz at VESCNM (Veterinary Emergency and Specialty of NM) to properly repair his pelvis.

Boxer Rescue of Albuquerque has been granted right of ownership and we have willingly accepted this formidable medical challenge. While the circumstances are tragic, we are truly honored to work with a great team of veterinary doctors to get Jack healthy once again. Jack is a very special boy and we want to do everything we can for him.

This is a big undertaking for our small rescue and we have only just begun. So, we are asking our Boxer families and supporters to help us, by donating what you can, to get Jack on the road to recovery to enjoy a happy healthy Boxer life. Our ambitious goal is to raise $3,800.00. Please enter “Jack” in the PayPal comments. Thank you!
